Bob, stop and think. Can you honestly tell me that they were Christian by
their deeds, or were they Christian in name only, because using that moniker
helped them to spread their power and influence throughout the known world of
their day? Building grandiose church buildings does not make one a Christian.
Early Christian leaders compromised with Rome, and eventually, the persecuted
became the persecutor. Need I remind you of the Crusades, the Inquisition,
etc.? The Byzantines became lost in power and materialism. They were so
deceived by their wealth and affluence, that they actually believed that the
Millennium had already begun on Earth. They even went so far as to teach that
Christ was not going to return, because He had already returned through the
Church's presence on Earth. What a lie that was. I won't even get into Hitler.

So again, these all used the name of Christianity for their own gain. They
certainly didn't live the Gospel as taught by Jesus Christ. America is going
down the very same road. She claims to be Christian, but just look at her
deeds...war after war, rampant abortion, immoral and unethical embryonic stem
cell research, the rise of gay and lesbian militants, widespread drug usage,
etc., etc. America was designed as a Christian nation, but like those before
it, it has seriously strayed from the path of righteousness, and that is why
Christians such as myself must voice our concerns, and do what we can to turn
America around.

Yes, we will face criticism from the ungodly, such as the atheist minority,
but so what; that is the price we are willing to pay. If someone doesn't stand
up and show the Lord that there are still some righteous people left in
America, the entire nation will suffer, and it won't be pretty once God's
judgments begin to fall. Maybe they already have begun to fall, and we are
just on the cusp of them right now. Who knows.
