 Freedom of religion does mean freedom from religion, and that
 was written into the constitution because the founders had seen
 the great damage done by mixing religion and government.

 Remember this, the constitution does not only prohibit the
 establishment of a religion by government, but prohibits the
 government from acting to benefit or restrict anything
 established *BY* religion.

 There were China Towns, German and Italian communities, where
 the language of the respective country was spoken, and often the
 residents didn't learn English unless they had to go outside the
 communities. Until the 1950s there were communities in the
 Dakotas where the locals spoke German, and the kids learned
 English in school. They may still be there, that I do not know.
 I do know at least one man born in such a community.

 And God did *NOT* give them grief for that. I know the stories
 may say that, but I do not accept that God would kill people for
 disbelief, and esp not for marrying foreign women. Wasn't Ruth a
 foreign woman?
