Hello Bob. 30 May 05 12:08, you wrote to me: GKA>>> When I try to start up Max locally does it just not do GKA>>> anything other then write int the max.log "can't open GKA>>> \max\user (2)" GKA>>> An i can't see where this is shown in the ctl files GKA>>> and it is, I running by a win32 maximus on a windows GKA>>> 2000 Nt mashine. I have not had Max up running before, but it is a win32 version of v302 there not support Telnet, but i find out to run a local max with max -c -l it makes it work then. BJ> Questions: BJ> (A) What is the "File Password" line have in your max control files BJ> (*.ctl)? [I've got my control files split out, and this line is in BJ> system.ctl on my main BBS. If you aren't split out, could also be in BJ> max.ctl.] I have all my main mac setup in max.ctl and other ct for filebase and msgbase ctl and using default ,ax ctl's BJ> (B) In you main max directory, what files show up using 'dir USER*.*' BJ> command? I see User.bak, USER.BB$, User.bbs, User.idx and USER.PRG. BJ> If you have no files, either you are looking in the wrong directory, BJ> or haven't performed the needed initial setup. The initial setup is BJ> something like 'max -c' from a command line if I remember right. I BJ> know it uses command line switch thata you only use *one* time. BJ> WARNING: Re-executing the setup switch on a running maximus system BJ> will likely destroy your existing user database. I read the max.doc and find out to make a run of max -c and it make it work then but have change to another bbs software there have both squish qwk and telnet support, if not to do a linux install of max by cvs and see if I get a linux abd win2k nt compile there has support for telnet.
