А Вас, Danny Ceppa, я попрошу остаться...

        Hello, Danny!

It was 13 Jan 05 13:21, when Danny Ceppa scribbled to Michael Haritonov:

 MH>> So, 12AM is ... ? 12 AM or 12 PM? I mean - it's a zero _before_
 MH>> midnight or _after_ midnight?
DC> It is confusing, isn't it.

Oh, really :) Just like miles and pounds :)

DC> Unless your trying to set a VCR to record, the easier way is
DC> to say "noon" or "midnight"

Heh.. Here we have fully russified VCRs with 24h clock and a week starting with
Monday, not Sunday :)

 DC> runs 1AM, 2AM ... 11AM, *12PM*, 1PM ... 11PM, *12AM*, 1AM

*That* is driving me crazy! :) As Sean Dennis said before, US militaries use
24h system too. That reminded me a story told me by a Russian man in US, when
he was arranged a date with a US girl:

Girl: - So, when will we meet?
Man: - Hmm.. At 18:00.
G: - Oh.. Are you a militarian?!
M: - Do I look so stupid?!
:)

DC> I might be wrong, but I think right at 12AM is noon.

:) So you aren't used to it too?

DC> And, your system is far less confusing!

Nevertheless (I beleive you can be used to AM/PM system if you use it every day
during your life) it is or looks some more natural. Maybe, unusual for AM/PV
people, but it's natural, since a day has 24 hours..

DC> FWIW, if I tape a program starting at midnight, I set the
DC> recorder start time for 11:59 PM such to be safe! I've
DC> accidently recorded soap operas instead of the movie I wanted!

LOL! My kids wouldn't forgive me! :) They often set up our VCR to record a
later movie when they've sent to beds in 21:00. BTW, when American kids go to
bed if it is supported strictly?

        Best wishes,
                     Mix.
