I guess the end answer is - were Netware and Netware Lite compatible
with one another?  I don't believe they were.  (Lite has passed on to
become 'Personal Netware' and then embedded in Calera's OpenDos when
Novell sold off DR-DOS.)
The "file and printer sharing" is a handy thing when connecting multiple
users to a Novell server - averting the client license for the Novell
server,  albeit at a performance hit because all requests pass through
the Win95/SMB networking stack....
