After reading Alex and Craig's dissertations WRT emissions tests (thank goodness we don't have them here) I got to thinking about somethng I ran into today at our tag office. I went to transfer a tag (license plate to you yankees and Canadians) from our dead Omni to a newer vehicle we acquired and was told that the state "preferred" that I sell the Omni before transferring. "Why?" I asked. "Because down the road if you revive the vehicle the state will look at the situation and say "that vehicle was taken out of service" and may raise a stink about trying to buy a new tag for it." Weird. So now I have to research the law (didn't transfer the tag yet, I've got 21 days) and see if there's some kinky law that says that if I turn in the tag I can reregister the vehicle someday. It'll cost me an extra 15 bux to buy a new tag but wot d'hel, the state is not going to tell me what to do with my stuff.
