NA> What sort of generator do you have?

I was lucky enough to buy it the day before the hurricane hit our area.
Our local Home Depot had just brought out a crate full of them, which ended
up selling out in about 5-10 minutes and I picked up one of them.

It is a Powermate 5000 watt gas powered unit. Even though it is rated at
5000 watts, it will go much higher than that.

I made "suicide cables" using 50 foot extention cords. This
involves cutting off the female end and making it a male to male cable.

Very important !!cut the main breaker (street power) to the house!!. Plug
each of the (4) suicide cables into 2-4 different circuits (backfeeding)
the house. Then start the generator. Presto - backfeeding the entire house
from the portable generator.
