~> EC> WE have and have always had a secular ~> EC> government that governs over a diverse population. ~> At any rate, in light of the evidence which surrounds you, how can you be in ~> denial of the plain truth that the USA was crafted as a Christian nation, and ~> its most revered documents are based upon clearly Christian principles and ~> beliefs? It was founded by religious people, including a number of Christians, but part of the motivation of many to come across the ocean was to escape religious persecution including persecution by Christians. They created a government that was forbidden to establish any religion, thus a secular government. ~> Phrases like "In God we trust" and "one nation under God" certainly seem to ~> negate your usage of the word "always" in your above response, as does the ~> fact that you will find references to, and many monuments of, Moses and ~> the Ten Commandments scattered all across the American land, beginning in ~> Washington, D.C. The Supreme Court building actually depicts nine historic lawgivers, representing the traditions that influenced our legal system. None are literally Christian, although Moses and Solomon are part of a pre-Christian tradition that you may feel akin to. Menes and Hammurabi, not so much. And Confucius, not even close. But in any event that does not change the fact that the legal system is a secular one that establishes no particular religion. It is not like South Africa, which once tried to invalidate all non-Christian marriages. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5a* Origin: FidoTel & QWK on the Web! www.fidotel.com (1:124/311) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 11/331 18/200 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 140/1 226/0 236/150 SEEN-BY: 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 633/260 267 712/848 800/432 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 124/311 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
