A) AMD with Hammer & the 32/64 bit path are (I reckon) going to be the
winners in that race. You know how with generations of consoles & other
tech items the leaders often swap from generation to generation? Intel have
held the 32 bit PC generation since the 386 & well done to them for
that. Sony have held the 32 bit console generation.....but the 16 bit was
held by......& the next gen might not be held by Sony.... B) WRT to
Itanium if they are ever going to sell it to a "Ghz" public then
it will have to work as fast in raw Ghz as the P4 line as otherwise people
will do as they've done to PPC et al ie. "But it's only 1.5 ghz vs 4
ghz for the P4 so the P4 must be faster"......
