I haven't been following the Itanium saga closely, but I've heard that with
real world applications in IA32 emulation mode, it is several times slower
than current Pentium 4 hardware. If this is so, there is a considerably
higher barrier than price that needs to be surmounted before Itanium has a
prayer.
