You can always use the tape. ;-)

Seriously, after an update of VICE the disk drive drivers were moved (or
the position where VICE looks after them by default) so until I figured
out why I could not use the disk drives (context menu of the drives was
set to "none" and all the rest was grayed out) I only could load tape
images.

Btw. is it possible that VICE used new config file structure after a
recent update? Most (all?) of my settings were ignored.
