subject: Recent Rockwell Chipsets

You may have missed this with your modem. We have hundreds of
Maestro v34 and v34+ modems. These use a Rockwell chipset and
appears to have a similar commandset to most other Rockwell
implementations. I was rereading the manual recently and noticed
that bit 4 of S91 can be set (ATS91=16) to give a Signal Quality
& Line Level report at connect time.
For example, ATS91=16S95=47 on a v34 gives
CARRIER 2800
PROTOCOL: LAP-M
COMPRESSION: V.42BIS
SQ:037  LL:027
CONNECT 28000/ARQ
I don't remember seeing this last time I read a v34 manual. This
will probably work on other recent Rockwells. It reduces the
need to perform the "+++ AT%L%Q   A/  A/ ... A/  ATO" sequence.
