Hi Josh,

DOS

In case of dual boot OS/2 has to be installed on drive C: along with
DOS/Windows 3.x.
If you would install OS/2 on another drive than C: (I prefer this always)
then you must install bootmanager.
The bootmanager needs a own partition on the first physical drive (1 - 7 MB)
free disk space at begin or end of the drive).
The space needed depends on the size of the physical drive.
The best way to install both DOS/windows 3.x and OS/2 is *not* to use dual
boot:
1. DOS must install on FAT - OS/2 can/should install on HPFS
2. DOS my crash the drive it is installed on - OS/2 crashes too.
3. If you need reinstall of DOS or OS/2 and you have installed dualboot you
must install both again.
If you would really install dual boot you don't need bootmanager.
So the better way is:
repartition your drive with OS/2 fdisk as:
1. bootmanager (at top or end of the 1. physical drive)
2. C: primary partition FAT formatted for DOS/windows (3.x, 95 or NT)
3. any logical partition (HPFS) for OS/2
OS/2 can be installed on any physical/logical drive. DOS and each Windows
needs a primary C:
On my system:
Disk Drive format
0 - - bootmanager
0 C: primary FAT DOS/windows 3.x
0 F: logical HPFS OS/2 WARP
1 D: primary HPFS data
2 E: primary HPFS data
2 G: logical HPFS data
The partitions D: and E: are only primary to become them on the physical
drives they are on.
In case of a reinstall or Upgrade to a new version of OS/2 I have only to
format f: and install OS/2. No change on C: needed.
With dual boot DOS *and* OS/2 must new installed. Because I prefer to format
the drive before I install a system on it.
Tip: use always OS/2 format with parameter /L to become a long format.
Tschau/Bye
