I'd question whether there is such a thing as "taming" a parrot. You
have to learn to control your own behavior so a bird will accept you as
a member of it's flock. Parrots which have lived around people who
know how to behave around birds will continue to trust humans until the
humans demonstrate they can't be trusted. Things which will break a
bird's trust include hurting the bird, scaring the bird, and (the most
common and worst offense) ignoring the bird. If a parrot is
repleatedly disappointed by human behavior they may never trust any
human again. Birds have long memories.
