| subject: | Listening to the SCO webcast thingy |
From: Adam Flinton You have to laugh... As soon as someone produces a verbatim I'll quote from it....but for now from memory OK one part which caught my attention (& sense of humour) was that the SCO guys were basically saying that they didn't get the copyright to the Unix code becuase of some contract technicality/ mix up but that everyone round the table had agreed that SCO should have the IP. Quick point: A new acronym? Instead of RTFM I would suggest RTFC where C = contract. Anyway so because Novell has said "oy we own the copyright you lying blackmailing B*stards" they have no stepped right back & are now in effect saying "we never intended any Patent or copyright suits just a "breach of contract" wrt IBM. So now the genius'es who thought they were buying the copyright, Patents etc but coz they never read the contract......didn't are now going mano a mano with IBM who's lawyers are known & feared throughout the inhabited planets...over a "contract dispute" over stuff like "high end enterprise features" which......ooooooohhhh who would have written? IBM with it's hstory of high end enterprise stuff or SCO? Oh hold my sides in lest they split. "Ground Control to Darl McBride, your circuit's dead, there's something wrong Can you hear me, Darl McBride? Can you hear me, Darl McBride? Can you hear me, Darl McBride?" Can you- Here am I floating round my tin can far above the Moon. Planet Earth is blue and there's nothing I can do."
