No, an independent is neither a liberal or conservative.  To believe there
are only two camps of thought is....how shall I say it...quite primitive.

I am reminded of an Irish gentleman who used to post on a forum I
frequented before all this peace stuff went down who was very sympathtic
and supportive to the IRA's aims but not their violent methods.  Because of
his independent stance he was considered an "outcast."  Such a
pity.  So anyone who doesn't agree with you is a liberal  Fey on you.  
Fortunately, most people are far
more complex than the simple, primitive labels you are fond of attaching to
humans.   Of course, I've always held that those of you who can only see
people as conservatives or liberals are really not capable of complex thoughts.
