Toshiba also makes nice machines.

I keep going for the numeric keypad, which of course the laptop doesn't
have. There is an add-on one that you can buy, but I'll just get used to
not having it, methinks. The keyboard on the Thinkpad actually has larger
keys than my desktop does. Taking some getting used to, but I like it.

Does it just bulk-transfer EVERYTHING? I don't want to do that. I'm going
to upgrade some software; some I have on my desktop, I no longer want, and
some of the genealogy files, I'm just re-entering to do over and eliminate
mistakes and "cross-contamination" (between surname files, since I split
off each major surname from what was one big file that got TOO big). So
I'm not sure that sounds like it's for me.

I might look into it, though. We have a home network, but Keys had to
change out his hard drive. He had to buy a new one because his old one
failed. He was able to retrieve information off of it -- including all the
photos ever taken with our digital camera, which now also reside on two
CD-ROMs, one for him and one for me, as well as on his new hard drive! And
we think the wire connecting his computer to the network is damaged, so
that has to be replaced. That would be the easiest way for me to transfer
only what I want, just do it over the home LAN, but it's not functioning
right now.

I already do! Heeheehee.
