Subject: [drakelist] 4 Series Panels

Learn something every day.

The company that produced the front panels for the 4 Series
was Angell Manufacturing Company of Dayton Ohio.

The aluminum was etched in a caustic solution, and then
silk-screen painted with enamel paint. On the 4 and 4A
models the panel lettering was allowed to "show through" in
natural aluminum. Those who use(d) those models know how
hard it is to read the lettering, especially in the lighter
gray area above the "belt line". For the 4B and C models,
the above the line lettering was overprinted in black,
making it much easier to see.

Unfortunately, their minimum order is 1,000 pieces, plus
silk-screen and tooling costs for punching the panels. They
are not able to "re-do" existing panels

Bottom line.... Take care of those panels. They are
tough, with well bonded paint, but CAN be scratched.
