subject: Fin Damage

SM>> "fin" can be fixed fairly easily.
SM>Really? I thought the whole bottom unit of the outdrive would have to
SM>be replaced in order to get that fin back???
Not that it's of any importance but the proper name of that "Fin"
portion of the lower unit is "Skeg".....and the repairs/restoration of
it to original condition is called "Heli-Arcing" (Heli-Arc). This
repair can be performed by any reliable company that does professional
prop repairs. Usually the outdrive has to be removed in order to have
the company do this repair, but there are exceptions. Costs, (The ones
I've had done) have always been under $100, and compared with the cost
of the outdrive case...that's peanuts. Hope this helps.
