I don't think either of those would work for the use I had in mind.
One of the things I like about NT and wsftpd is that I can setup a user
with a homepage site and they have access granted by wsftpd (it handles the
logins and passwords) but I don't add the user to the NT user database so
it grants users no rights to the machine except for specific ftp access.
And all ftp access is restricted by a single account that I run wsftpd
under. Keeps things clean and simple for security setups.
The downside is I can't base quotas on this because there are no userID's
being used that the system gets to see, so I need disk quotas based on
folder not user.
I was just wondering if it was available on Linux and if so how it worked.
Seems to me it would be a pretty simple thing to implement in a file system
so I'm kinda surprised nobody's doing it.
