But how is that the answering device says something to the effect that
"you should not be hearing this if..." in a male voice?  Somehow
I don't think the phone company has much to do with the problem at hand.

Don't bother?  That's not the right answer in any case.

It's not frustrating for me, Thom.  _Annoying_ would be a better
descriptor. I route mail for several SysOps that send you updates.  I route
them as Direct as I do for my own updates.  I don't think having to send
updates via E-Mail should _have_ to be an option.  With all due respect, I
think your modem should be answering the line - not your answering machine.
