You've been told that the 404 is the server saying "I can't find the
file you specified". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_404
Typically, that is due to the package lists apt maintains is
out-of-date. A "sudo apt-get update" *should* take care of that. Now,
if you can't successfully update that because of disk errors, you
might be on to something.
