subject: What`s About Paradox/2

TW->Hello,
TW->here in Germany three of the biggest PC-Seller (Vobis,Escom,
TW->ComTech) had cancelled their contract wird MircoSoft and
TW->there are preloaded OS/2 warp V3 on there PC's.
I thought WARP OS/2 needed MD-DOS Windows to run??? If not
I'll buy it and eliminate MicroSoft (I use 4DOS, and would
then use 4OS/2... have you tried either one?)
TW->Ich think, it's time that Borland give us a sign, what
TW->their are now what to do with Paradox/2 .
A friendly statement would be nice, but unlikely. But cryptic
signs are already becoming clear: notice the strategy
software companies have, and the words they use to NOT tell you.
Borland said once 'we will fully support PDOX DOS versions, and
have NO intentions of abandoning it..' aber wirklich they
price PDOXDOS at $795 (MSRP) and PDOXWIN at $189. This can
be called support, but it can also be called dubious meddling
with the laws of supply and demand. Some may sa it can be called
highway robbery (extortion).
The best way is to read their advertising, and the comments by
their owner Phillippe Kahn (?) and insiders in trade magazines.
Here in the U.S., I know people who are abandoning Dbase and
Paradox because they think that it is inevitable that Access
and VB will take over as universal products.
Borland has made this easier by using "divide and conquer"
on themselves! By making it very Very VERY hard to migrate
from DOS Pdox to Windows' Pdox (with Zero backwards compatibility)
they jeopardize their loyal market: If we're going to have to
relearn and rewrite all our libraries, why not experiment with the
Microsoft "wave of the future" - and stay with MS ???
I wonder if there are a few, like me, who are challenged to see if
we can stick to our original investment and grow with Borland's
innovations. Borland can make it easier by not using 'signs' but
clear statements that gives their market credit for being rational
intelligent people. OS/2 would seem to be a great way to keep
MicroSoft on their toes....what can be done to keep Borland 'on their
toes'?
TW->Write me about your meening.
TW->I hope, you can enjoy my funny english ... =8-)
I do enjoy your English, it makes me think....
Now, I bet you would c*r*i*n*g*e if I had to respond
in my veruktes Deutsch von der Hochshule vier und zwanzig
years ago! Can you understand the idiom 'on their toes' or is
there a German equivalent?
TW->Greetings from Germany,  71522 Backnang ...........
Greetings aus the dry backside of beautiful Pacific Northwest, Kennewick WA
