Greetings Ed!
RW>> The DDRR (Directional-discontinuity Ring Radiator), vertically
RW>> polarized antenna....
EV> The Handbook I brought up here is the 1976 Edition and I can see a
EV> VHF Halo that looks Vertically polarized on page 330 but it doesn't
EV> look anything like the 6 Meter Horizontally polarized Halo I used
EV> with my Sixer.
EV> I will go see if I have a 1967 Handbook to see what this here DDRR
EV> is all about. Thanks!
When I looked at the photo of the FM broadcast antenna sold my Walmart,
that reminded me of the DDRR. And basically, it is a Halo antenna with a
reflector used to make it a vertically polarized antenna. The HF version
uses the ground as its reflector, while we used a slightly larger ring to
make our 27Mhz and VHF antennas. I even made one for UHF and it was
mounted on a CB mag base so I could take it with me anywhere in the car.
Dunno what happened to it since the move to Texas.
Have a day!
