Nosty was probably a fraud, although he did have a knack for fancy
poetry.  However, the prophecies of St. Malachy may be real.  With the
possible exception of the last entry (Petrus Romanus).  If one were to
look *only* at the prophecies of St. Malachy, one might tend to doubt
its authenticity.  However, prophecies by other seers seem to suggest
a commonality, especially in regards to the time period of the end.

For example, here is a prophecy by Waldhirten Matthias Stormberger,
a 19th-century Bavarian seer -

"...And after the end of the Second Great War, a third universal
conflagration will come, so that it will determine everything.  There
will be weapons totally new.  In one day, morer men will die than in all
the previous wars.  The battles will be accomplished with artificial
weapons.  Gigantic catastrophes will happen.  With the open eyes, the
nations of the planet will go through these catastrophes.  They won't
know what is happening, and those that know and tell, will be silenced.
Everything will be different from before, and in many places the Earth
will be a geat cemetery.  The third war will be the end of many
nations."

Notice the similarities of this prophecy with that of Fatima.
Stormberger continues -

"You, my children, won't experience the largest mischief, you, my
grandchildren, won't also experience it, but the third stock, that
will easily experience it."

The time frame of the "third stock" would place the end as being
between roughly the 1990s - 2010, or thereabouts.  My guess at to
the absolute end would be the year 2012, coinciding with the Mayan
calendar end date of December 21, 2012.
