Hi Sean,
Here's a copy of my post to Charlie Rovner, which contains the new info
I've come up with on my u/l problem. I'm hoping it will mean something
to you, since you seem very knowledgeable about the inner workings of
the modem and comm software! I'm hoping you can suggest a fix.
Hi Charlie,
My reply to you was wrong! I've left part of the message here, so you'll
know what I'm talking about:
CR>Or an improper setup string that is allowing your modem to interpret
CR>part of the file as a command to hang up.
That's what I think the problem has to be, Charlie! When I installed the
program, I accepted the defaults. Something in the QMPFW program itself
(meaning the settings) has to be incorrect...but I don't know what, and I
don't know how to find out what is wrong!!! That's why I posted my
messages here...sort of my last resort.
CR>Try turning on the logging function in QMPro. After an upload fails,
CR>there may be a message explaining what happened.
That's a good idea, Charlie, and I tried it. All it shows is the transfer
was aborted. No reason given, and nothing extra, or out of the ordinary
compared with a successful upload! B:(
THIS IS WRONG! I thought you meant the scrollback function, which is
what the above answer applies to, and it is correct for that.
BUT.... I didn't know about the Logging function! I stumbled across it
today, while reading all of the Help screens again for the umpteenth
time. When I turned it on and tried another u/l, which failed of course,
the log showed a REASON!!! It said:
"No room for new char in buffer" I assume that char is character.?
I don't know what this means, except for a literal reading, nor do I
know how to fix it (make the buffer larger?). I'm hoping that you do,
since you mentioned the Logging function!!!
I hope you'll reply soon, Charlie, because I think fixing this will get
my QMPFW running like a bright red, yellow and green top!
Bob
