More predictable here, at least in the short term, if one knows the type of
systems that generates those kinds of winds - cold fronts, microbursts, etc. 
Cold fronts and microbursts are definitely the big wind makers around here. :) 
Tornados are rare, but not unknown, had an F2 within a mile of here in 2003.
