FM> So far (grin) you have escaped the "Nazi" nomenclature, Day. I can't
FM> think (chuckle) it will be for long!!!
DB> This gonna be fun Frank, lemmee quote: "I have no patience with actors
DB> who try to mimic life, with worn out, used-up people who swathe
DB> themselves in wisdom so as to appear 'objective',- with histrionic
DB> agitators who wear magic hoods on their straw heads,- with ambitious
DB> artists who try to pass for ascetics and priests yet are, at bottom,
DB> only tragic buffoons.
DB> And I am equally out of patience with those newest speculators in
DB> idealism, so-called anti-Semites, who parade as Christian-Aryan worthies
DB> and endeavor to stir up all the asinine elements of the nation by that
DB> cheapest of propaganda tricks, a *moral attitude*. (The ease with which
DB> any wretched imposture succeeds in today's
DB> nation may be attributed to the progressive stultification of the public
DB> mind. The reason for this general spread of inanity may be found in a
DB> diet composed of newspapers, politics, beer, & Wagner's music. Our
DB> national vanity and situation and the shaking palsy of current ideas
DB> have each done their bit to prepare us for such a diet.) [author's
DB> parentheses] Today is extremely rich and in- ventive in stimulants; in
DB> fact, it depends entirely on stimulants and distilled spirits. This
DB> may explain the prevalence of counterfeit ideals, those most rarefied
DB> distillations of the spirit, as well as the stale quasi-alcoholic fumes
DB> one breathes wherever one goes.[ in the halls of power] I wonder how
DB> many cargoes of fake idealism, fake heroism, and fake eloquence, how
DB> many tons of compassion liqueur (Brand: La Religion de la Souffrance),
DB> how many stilts of 'virtuous indignation' for the use of the
DB> intellectually flat-footed, how many comedians of Christian morality we
DB> would have to export in order to clear the air... Obviously such
DB> overproduction opens up splendid commercial possibilities: a good
DB> business could be done in small ideal-idols and the 'idealists' that go
DB> with them- I hope someone sufficiently enterprising will take up the
DB> suggestion. The opportunity to 'idealize' the entire globe is in our
DB> hands! But why speak of enterprise here at all? The only things needed
DB> are the hands, ingenuous, very ingenuous hands... [and don't we have
DB> them!] "
DB> I have been a bit free with the translation from Neitzsche's German, but
DB> it seems so apropos of today's Amerika.
DB> I find it notewothy too, that the next batch of tragic buffoons, the
DB> Nazis, didn't even read or understand all of the philosophy on which
DB> they were spozed to base their policy, and that the tragic buffoons of
DB> demagogic Christians here, didn't catch them at it.
Love it! But do you think the uncivil Mr. Cummins will even be able to
READ your post much less comprehend it. Notice that after he posted to me
gratuitiously after a clear and polite request not to do so ever again I
characterized him, not as Callicrates but as his toady, Polus. Since he's
going to spread his poison-pen to EVERYBODY (even his original defenders) one
might as well have fun with it. It is seldom one encounters an individual
ho
utterly lacks the ability to experience shame. A natural for one of Jerry
Springer's extravaganzas I would think.
I know you have not read my humble little _Thought Mosaic_ in which the
concepts of Maternal-Masculine are given my own strange personal slant but
Nietzsche's "a little woman bent on revenge will tear you to pieces" is one
f
my favorite quotes and yet I can never remember from which of Nietzsche's
books it came. Nor do I think he was talking about "women" as a gender but
about the maternal in man!! I have never failed to acknowledge the genius,
master of philology and brilliant, sharp wit of Nietzsche. It cannot be
absolutely proven but Freud, a genius in his own right dispite having been
surpassed now, probably went to school to Nietzsche without the latter
nowing
about it.
Sincerely,
Frank
