Since Earnest Padgette yelled this at Steve Henderson, I hollered this in
response:
SH>Like hell. I will resist all the way to deadly force, if required. It
has
SH>gone there (almost) three times. I used to live in an -extremely- bad
SH>neighborhood.
EP> Right attitude! Rolling over simply emboldens the scum. EP
My sentiments, exactly.
SH>IMSHO, -this- is one of the biggest reasons that the criminal has so much
SH>leeway to do as he damn well pleases. There are chickenshit mentalities
SH>all over. I will -not- roll over. I can, and will, fight for what is
SH>mine.
EP> And I'll fight to defend whats yours, too. When we stop acting
EP> like sheep, the wolves will vanish.
In all actuality, we don't want the wolves to vanish any more than we want
the sheep to disappear. Characteristics of both should be present. There
is too much disparity between the two diametrically opposed attitudes, and
this is self-perpetuating. The strong get stronger and the weak get
weaker. If the sheep develop some backbone, the wolves will tend to mellow
a bit. Nature always finds "center". If this occurs, the mean won't
change much, however, the extremes on the scale won't be quite so extreme.
