subject: Kate Allen, director of Amnesty International, sticks her he

parapet to announce that she's going to hinder the government's
attempts to protect the people, and allow people to whip her to death
like the only pregnant vestal virgin's lover, when her actions result
in the death of hundreds of innocent people.

Wouldn't it be great if she actually said, (I paraphrase bit a little
bit of journalistic licence,) "I think this is outrage. We airy fairy
types at Amnesty International, want to make it quite clear that we
have the strength of our convictions, so we want to be held completely
responsible for the deaths of any innocent members of the public by
suicide bombers on the British Isles. That's right all you people out
there, when your relatives are blown into hundreds of bits, we want you
to know that it was us who prevented the government from protecting
you."

Except Amnesty isn't saying this, Amnesty's saying "What you're doing
is wrong." without suggesting any viable alternative. Amnesty's
certainly not saying "We will protect the British people" either, or
even "If the British people are slaughtered in their thousands, or
hundreds or even just a few, then we will admit we were wrong, and not
criticise the government again."

"Kate Allen, director of Amnesty International UK, said: "The details
cannot disguise the essence of the new Bill - the Home Secretary has
reserved the power to place anyone in the UK under house arrest without
charge or trial, based on secret evidence. This is nothing short of
internment at home"

Is the view good from the cheap seats Kate?

I don't recall seeing you walking the streets in Tikrit in your peace
Kaftan looking for any of the people who've been recently beheaded on
live TV for Islamic militant religious amusement.

Still, it's pretty fucking tough up there in the mean streets of
Islington on a Friday night isn't it? They've even got a wood floor in
the Eagle on Farringdon road and some of the seats are quite worn out.
Two or three weeks ago, the maigre of possin in a cacherel of oyster
mushrooms with legume en gratis was off the menu by 3 o'clock on
Saturday Afternoon. Life is hard.

You'll have to have Abu Qatada out with you on the piss in Clerkenwell.
