TL>> ages....Jason Fesler is still alive, but shows virtually no
TL>> interest in GIGO at this point.

ml>> i've had him send me a new key at times when i've needed
ml>> it... i need to contact him about another one and the one
ml>> that allows me to turn off the fastreturn stuff... i had one
ml>> some time back but that was evidently for another host
 ml>> name...

TL> I think there's a key generator up on the gigo site.

yeah but that alters things so that it is noticible that its a free key
instead of one of the original registration keys...

ml>> i do use netmgr but i don't recall using it to move stuff to
ml>> pkt... i've been using the MAIL2DIR tool that mats and joho
ml>> released... it pulls MSGs and stuff from FD's netmail
ml>> directory and static queue and puts them in a specified
ml>> directory... however, i'm looking at my stuff now because i
ml>> do use something to make this stuff available to GIGO...

TL> Yes...the "problem" of moving it and changing the .msg to
TL> .pkt so GIGO can process it.

yeah... that's what mail2dir does... packs the msgs and moves the/any
attached files to the destination directory... however, i don't think it'll
work with IM...

 ml>> [time passes]

ml>> boy, that was a trip thru history ;) anyway, i have my tosser
ml>> configured to not pack PKTs to the gateway address... it
ml>> just leaves them as PKTs whereever it puts them... then i
ml>> run the MAILSCAN tool that came with GIGO... it reads the
ml>> MSGs in FDs netmail folder and locates the ones addressed to
ml>> the gateway with the PKT attached to it... then it moves the
ml>> PKT to the special outbound directory i have GIGO configured
ml>> to look for the PKTs in... after that, i just run GIGO and
ml>> it grabs the outbound PKTs and works its majik on them...

TL> Hmmm, I use GECHO...and as I recall it looks at the .msg
TL> files and combines them into one big .pkt file...which I
TL> don't think is what GIGO wants.

GIGO doesn't care... it processes PKT files and pulls out the messages just
like any other PKT processing application... my system regularly sends
batches to GIGO in one PKT file... especially when i forward several posts
from the OS2USER or OS2HARDWARE echos back to the lists... and then there's
the times that i forward several jokes from FUNNY to my internet address
and a few friends out that way...

ml>> i've thought about using netmgr to do this but just haven't
ml>> taken the time to do so... i've also thought of using
ml>> another of two other programs i use here to do this but,
ml>> again, just haven't taken the time to do so...

TL> Well, I HAVE to solve the problem....I need to dump the old
 TL> DOS machine.

i think that we've just gotten something up for you in the netmgr echo...
gord posted something that might have worked except that it left the MSGs
as MSGs... i was just verifying it and came up with what i think is what
you are looking for... don't you have a copy of LIST.COM around there?
surely you could have located the same info the same way i did by searching
the netmgr docs for PKT???

TL>> Apparently you are still having prblems receiving the
 TL>> robot's mail

ml>> please try to send something from elistin to my wmf address
ml>> and lets see if i've gotten that ruleset straight now... oh
 ml>> yes... i've also changed it to a 550 instead of 551 but i
ml>> doubt that that is the problem... if it is, its a surprise!

TL> To make it a "real" test...simply send a MOD UPD
 TL> message....that way I don't touch it...and the process is ALL
 TL> robot/gigo/uucico.

yeah yeah yeah OB-)

uucico? i haven't seen that one in a while... not since i switched over to
GIGO-SMTP and started doing things "live" instead of "store
and forward"... i'd have thought that you'd have moved over to that,
too... oh wait... you said DOS machine... and the GIGO-SMTP stuff isn't for
windows... hummm... that shouldn't matter, really, though... all you need
is some way to accept mail and get it into BAG files for GIGO to process in
the same way it processes PKT files... hummm...
