| subject: | Noachide Transform...(Halloween) |
> Mulling over Mike Powell to Steve Asher 18 Nov 2004 >> 3. Noachides may not observe any religious holidays outside the >> rabbinical traditions of Torah -- most especially including such >> Christian holidays as X-mas, Easter, Halloween, All Saint's Day, Good >> Friday, Ash Wednesday, and probably even the "new year" (January 1st). >> Alien religious holidays are forbidden even under the minimum of the >> Noachide code; these are violations of the commandment against >> idolatry. >> I never have really thought of Halloween as a "Christian" holiday. > Neither have I. Each year, commercial interests (not pagans / wiccans > AFAIK, just retail chains) sell various bits & pieces like witches' > hats, costumes, lollies etc for kids to wear, but most adult Australians > (like me) resist Halloween because it is primarily a US celebration, > not relevant here. >> The "Christians" around these parts threw a fit when it fell on a >> Sunday this year. I believe they think of it more as a Pagan, or >> even Satanic, holiday. > I would agree, and I suspect that pagans & wiccans would see it as "their" > day. Whether satanists identify with it or not, I don't know. I certainly > don't identify with it, but I wouldn't want anyone beheaded for celebrating > it, whoever they are. Oh come on... Most Pagans and Wiccans I know are not fond of Halloween. It is, after all, very insulting to them. Here in the USA Halloween has become very commercial. There is nothing spiritual about it. //Phil// P.S. And yes, I'm a Pagan. I have been "lurking" here for some time. Drop by my web page, www.mysteria.com to learn more. Loads of text files about metaphysical and occult topics. > I will make a point of singing carols at Christmas, and reflecting on the > birth of Jesus Christ, even if it is not the actual birthday. > Cheers, Steve.. --- BBBS/LiI v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Mysteria * mysteria.com * 626-355-5347 (1:102/943) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 102/943 379/1 396/45 106/2000 633/267 |
