DT> But, without the education I could not have my teaching job.
WEll of course not, you're required to have certification of schooling.
But if it wasn't necessaary and we didn't have mandatory schools, I'll
bet you'd still be teaching, and I'll bet you'd be enjoying it more
and you'd be enriching the lives of more kids than you are now.
I mean, I'm not knocking _teachers_, I'm knocking the system. The
entire system is bunk.
DT> degrees don't mean Im a good teacher, just qualified (certified). But
DT> along the way I must have learned a great deal about life, discipline,
DT> writing skills, interpersonal skills, and developed an educational
DT> philosophy.
If you wanted to teach, you'd do the same thing, regardless of whether
you get it at school or not.
DT> I think my educational experiences, much like my life
DT> experiences, have made me a more "well-rounded" person. There is far
DT> more value to an education than a mere certificate.
But you're missing the point. You'd also be well-rounded without the
schooling and educational experience, in a non-schooled society. You'd
be learning from all kinds of teachers who have skills to offer that are
easily accessible and autonomous.
