-=> Quoting DAVID PENNINGTON to CLARENCE HOGAN <=-
DP> Bro. Clarence,
Hi ya' brother David!
DP> On the subject of the EVENING, let me add my cents worth. To use G-d's
DP> own definition of the evening, "And the (evening - [darkness]) and the
DP> (morning - [light]) were the first, second, third, etc, day.
DP> Our word EVEN might mean between, the word in Hebrew this is
DP> translated from means dusk. The priest were to light the lamps from
DP> EVENING to MORNING. This is when it was dark, not after 12:00 while it
DP> was still day.
DP> The patriarchs would stroll through their fields at the time of the
DP> evening, in the cool of the day. Noon time is anything but cool.
DP> The time of the coming of the EVENING was and still is celebrated by
DP> the Jews at the correct time of day. When the sun is descending below
DP> the horizon and darkness is enveloping the land.
DP> Paul said to "let not the sun go down (disappear) on your wrath." In
DP> other words, do not end one day and begin another while anger has
DP> control of you.
DP> The lighting of the candles in Jewish homes commemorates this very
DP> aspect of giving this light to a darkened world. Light a candle while
DP> it is day, no difference. Light a candle as dusk falls across the
DP> land, see the majesty of G-d's creative purposes.
DP> Night cometh when no man can work. Light a candle, evening has fallen.
DP> Please forgive me if I seem flip. I don't mean to. Take a look at the
DP> Jew's time honored traditions. They might of added many fences to the
DP> Torah that we do not agree with or understand, yet their foundations
DP> are usually true and firm.
DP> No. I do not agree with all their traditions, but neither do they.
DP> There are many, sometimes heated debates over these issues, but the
DP> going down of the sun aspect has never changed in thousands of years.
Thanks very much for your support, for all that you have said
not only supports what was being said to brother Jerry, but also
adds to, for which you are also thanked for, however, as the
discussion goes on, you could rest assured that your additions
would have and will be eventually mentioned along with many others!
No disrespect on your comments, however, would one not think
that you may have addressed this message to the wrong person,
since we completely agree on every word and this reads as if we
were suppose to be miles apart, does it not? So please do not
take offence at this, for it was just a simple observation on my
part, ok?
And brother Jerry does seem to be sincere in his assumption that
the doctrines and commandments of men replaced the direct
Commandments of Yahweh as to the start of each and every day of
this 6000 years of this age of life, which is sunset to sunset,
but as was pointed out to him, if they had, then nothing would
intermesh in the whole Bible where the time of day or night is
involved, do you not agree?
May Yahweh truly bless you! Baruch Ha Shem.......clarence.......
... I don't punch time clocks, but I would kick a sundial! :)))))
