Ian -

ALMOST all 4 Series schematics have serial number ranges on 
them.  It consists of the date and first serial number 
affected in the form MmDdYYXXXXXX.   As in 115688000 for 
01/15/68 s/n 8000.  You may ask how we know it's 01/15/68 
and not 11/05/68..?   Educated guess since the "early" R-4B 
was 926677000 for 09/26/67 s/n 8000 and the next one was 
05076910501 for 05/07/69 s/n 10501.
