Parakeets definitely don't need as much water.   I use the "test tube"
water feeders for my 2 finches and 2 parakeets.    I change the water
in the budgie cage every other day just to freshen it.   Sometimes it
looks as though none is gone!    The finches get 2 tubes of water
changed every single day, and they're both close to empty!
