| subject: | The Next Pope |
Hello Everybody, Well, it's almost time for the conclave to begin. Who will become the next pope? That is the question the cardinals will try to answer over the next few days, or perhaps next few weeks. However, one fellow from long ago predicted who the next pope will be. In 1139 A.D., St. Malachy, an Irish monk, wrote a list of 112 future popes (the original published list consisted of 111 future popes), the last who would reign at the end of the world. Here are the last four popes St. Malachy predicted - #109 - De Medietate Lunae (Of the Half-Moon) - John Paul I #110 - De Labore Solis (Toil of the Eclipse of the Sun) - John Paul II #111 - Gloria Olivae (Glory of the Olive) - ??? #112 - Petrus Romanus (Peter the Roman) - ??? There is some question as to whether #111 or #112 will be the last pope, since #112 was not published until 1820 A.D., almost three hundred years after the first publication of St. Malachy's predictions/prophecies. To date, every prediction by St. Malachy has proven to have been accurate. Will his next prediction prove to be just as accurate? If so, it could spell the end of the world...
