subject: Backup via DAT?

Help?
Just bought a Tascam DA-20. In addition to the usual stereo ins/outs,
there is a single digital input and a single digital output. Both are
RCA plugs. I understand that the main function of these is so that I can
record CD's or dub DAT's without getting out of the digital domain.
However, is it possible to use these ports to back up my hard drive?
According to the docs: "Conforms to the IEC and EIAJ format."
What sort of cable or adaptor would I need? Would this run off of a
serial port? Parallel port?
Also, what about software? I'm using QBackup with an internal (Connor)
tape backup system right now. Is it possible to reconfigure this
software to use an external DAT instead?
Any help much appreciated....
