 TC> 5. Go down to Force 50 line mode at startup and press ENTER.

        Tika, this was set from the first attempt. What I did though,
   is to set to NO all the other lines, so it would not default to 25
   lines and THAT cured my problem. Your not prompted me to look into
   this further, Thanks, all is now fine here.
     
       
...    Ubuntu has been side-lined for the time being.
