An IBM PS/2 E, aka "pizza box". It was a hybrid of desktop and
laptop technology. It used a desktop system board, an IBM 486SLC2
processor, and laptop diskette and hard disk drives. It had a single ISA
slot that would normally have either a network adapter or a 4-slot PCMCIA
adapter (2 slots through the back panel, 2 through the front of the case on
the other end of the adapter.) It was originally sold with a laptop-sized
keyboard with Trackpoint, and IBM's first LCD VGA stand-alone monitor
(model 9507).

I currently use it as a lab instrument, it has an analog/digital I/O card
in it and some home-written software. My next plan is to reinstall the
4-port PCMCIA adapter, put in a couple of 3Com Etherlink cards and a Token
Ring card, and use it as a router / firewall.
