I assume you are unaware of how irritating many of us find current trends in Windows where after we have invested many years of solid work in Microsoft products, we find stuff like Vista which (allegedly) will refuse to run certain exe files unless the exe is given full access to the entire system. One day I will study the links you provided, but meanwhile, if you know, why don't you either confirm or deny the fundamental claim? Sometimes I have to download a DOCUMENT from Microsoft, and what I get is an EXE (presumably a self-expanding archive). I have to run the exe to get the doc. This is training everyone to run any exe they download. I suppose this is fair enough because just opening a document these days is likely to allow malware execution, although at least it would have limited privilege.
