-=> Quoting Jean Parrot to Nancy Backus on 08-27-08 09:38 <=- JP> Lately, I do not dedicate this much time to FIDO, there is too JP> much to do here. When winter gets back upon us, it will be JP> different. With me, there are the occasional slower days, maybe even a week here or there that is slower... but never a full season... there's always too much that is needing to be done, for too many people. So I fit in Fido as part of that impossible schedule... :) JP> I have never seen a BW door. I read about it on Juxta where is JP> points the users to the BWREPFIX, that is all. I've used a Bluewave door any chance I could get. When I started with my BW reader, that's what the bbs I was on then had... the BW door as well... The reader's ability to read QWK as well was a bonus when I started to go to other boards that only had QWK doors... I could still read any packet in my favorite, trusty BW reader. You could try out the BW door on Juxta easily enough... From the main menu, it is %, and then 1 to enter the door. C to configure it. You could start by just getting this echo in the BW door, and see how it works... It's easy as pie once you get things set up (and that's not hard either)... and the packets act pretty much the same in the reader as the QWK ones do. Most noticeable difference is that a BW message packet file has either (your choice) a numeric extension (ie .001) or one that incorporates the Day of the week with a number (ie .MO1) instead of .QWK and the reply packets have the extension .NEW instead of .REP. The more subtle differences are why I'd rather be using the BW door than a QWK door, when it's available.. :) JP> Her back is back (!) in shape but we are entangled with a JP> family party and busy setting it up. There might be upwards of 50 JP> attendees. Sounds like our typical family parties... when it's just my siblings and descendents getting together... I'd guess yours might be a little further flung (ie more distantly related)? With 8 married siblings, a total of 32+ children from them, some of which are married also, and already 20+ grandchildren, we can be near (or even over) 50 even though some never are able to come, since they live in Great Britain... :) JP>> Hee ! I complained to Microsoft enough about the crunging of JP>> my three Athlons systems that they are supposed to send me a free JP>> Vista. I will know for sure when it gets to my mits. NB>> Hope it comes thru for you. Nice when they make good. :) JP> I will let you know when I get it, if ! I wrote back to the JP> techie who had said that he would supply that CD and got narry a JP> reply from him on the subject. Not holding too much hope. Maybe he's just on vacation at the moment...?? ;) Good luck on that. :) ttyl neb ... To err is Human.
