Hello to all of you out there. I was doing some research on a term paper for
this semester when an interesting item caught my eye in a periodical abstract
file. WW’It deals with shortwave radio and social studies. It is abstracted
as follows.

Title: Social studies comes alive with shortwave radio.
Author: James M. Skerik
------------
Abstract:
------------
Shortwave radio broadcasts foster new approaches to teaching and can provide
an electronic field-trip to students' interest in social studies by giving
the subject a new perspective. Learning skills and activities are centered
around listening from radio, and provide a boost to the students' capacity to
assimilate and accumulate knowledge. Global contests conducted by shortwave
stations and other regular programs provide pleasure to students when they
hear their voice on the air. Shortwave radio effectively cultivates an
interest for social studies in students.
