        Greetings & Solicitations (...uh...well...not selling
                                    anything...)
My, but this echo looked a bit sparse there for a while,
judging by the number of messages since the last time I logged
on. Don't have time to do messages to all the 'regulars'.
Please forgive this being a little longer, but thought I'd burst
in here with a 'hello' (among other things).
I see Vicki Nichols and Jean Prophet have had some
successes in the show ring. wAy tO gO!!! Any appy with a
'Champagne Trot'... (what'll they think of next...?... )
And didn't we all know that Mr. X would eventually match
up all his parts, eh.?. ;) If we still had our node number,
would simply have to demand that you put up a more recent pic for
me to fReq. So when does Baby get to show off, huh?
See Meg Alfoni has gotten herself an appy...just what
she needed, too. A social worker par excellance'... Think we
knew that was coming after she met your Spot, Vicki, no.?.
Didn't see it, so I'm gonna guess that Mike May is all
well. Still haven't located a webpage there, Mike...
That's ok...I still haven't located the roll of film that has
the picture I want. geez...and you know I found a roll from
several years ago from an afternoon when we took the kids up to
Mt. Rainier... (...ah...but I digress...)
Jan Murphy...didn't see that about Dash for Cash. As for
earthquakes...we apparently have them all the time but most
people don't notice. The recent 'big' one...it was reputedly
4.8...was centered around Duvall, if I'm remembering the right
one. We 'felt' it here, but there was no damage - not even
noticeable damage in Duvall.
oh...and yes, Bob Kohl, there is a real product called
Apple-Asses...a mixture of barley, molasses and dehydrated
Delicious apples, pelletized. Our boys are rather fond of them.
Make an excellent substitute for apples (well...they pack well
and don't leak juice in your pocket) Given a choice between real
apples and apple-a**es, (there's a concession for you, Bob...but
really...they're in the stores...right there in plain view...)
they'll take both, thank you. ;)
The news from this side the CRT:
After 5 1/2 days of scarcely measurable precip, I think
there may be a chance we'll get a couple days of summer. It's
still been chilly off and on at night, but the grass is starting
to grow some. There may be hope for us yet.
The boys are almost all shed out - well - except Bo
doesn't believe it I guess cuz he still hasn't dropped all the
guard hairs. At 4+, he's finally put on some bone and doesn't
look quite so TBreddy... There may be a QH in there yet.!.
well...no...he still rather looks like a TB to me.
The old guy (ok...that's my husband) took him for a walk
down the road the other day and got tired of walking. So...he
hopped on bareback and halter. Tried a couple of rollbacks -
yes.!. Hadn't been ridden since the monsoons started last fall
and acted like it was yesterday. Think we been doing something
right there.
Paco is round. But then...Paco is almost always round.
wellll...not quite true... About halfway through the summer, he
starts looking real nice. Worst part now is his boy's outgrowing
him. Help.!. I need a new playmate for snowball! :) But I'm
not sure they could keep him cuz he's gonna be my carthorse (and
besides...he is the boy's first horse).
After losing weight for a big part of the first winter I
had him, Amadoro (aka the big guy), gained all winter and now
almOst looks like the class Saddlebred he is. yes...he lost a
lot of weight that first 6 months. aCk.!. (For those who
wanna-know, the solution was beet pulp and g r a s s hay)
He's still pretty tightly wound, but after spending some
time just walking down the road (no strain...I was walking beside
him), I decided he had unwound some and was finally paying
attention to me.
The long and the short is: On Monday, I saddled him up
thinking that if it 'felt right', I would climb on. wehlll...it
felt right. Nice. Relaxed, head even, loose rein, no jigging,
saddlebred stroll. 'ok...where are the ducks...oh...there they
are...okeee...' There's the gate. 'well...ok...I guess we
really don't _have_ to go in just because the other guys did...'
What happened to reverse mode?, you might ask. It was still
there...when I asked for it. Will it come back when I don't want
it? Maybe...then again...maybe not.
