Beats me. But, how many times have you seen "old" able to use "new"
as opposed to "new" able to use "old". Can the "old" FP2.0 read the
"new" VFP 3/5 .dbfs? Can the "old" Access 2 read the "new" Access 97
files? I don't think so. But the "new" VFP 3/5 _can_ read the "old"
FP2 .dbfs just like the "new" Access 97 can read the "old" Access
2 files. I've never seen a patch that would allow FP2 or 2.5 read VFP 3
or 5 .dbfs, likewise for Access 2 to read Access 97 files. I'm sure
this course of thinking applies to many other programs such as (eg)
Excel, Quattro, Paradox, Works, dBase II , etc, etc. They simply
don't bother updating the old. Mind you, M$ does have a patch that
will allow Word 6 & 95 read Word 97 files since all documents on their
websites now use the new and much smaller Word 97 format.....
Take Care
