G'morning David, DW> Not all birds have their eyes pointing sideways. Some, such as owls, DW> look more or less straight ahead. Down here we have a native owl called the `morepork' because of its distinctive hoot - "More pork, more pork". We have a set in the bush around the house, but I've never seen one face to face - strictly noctural creatures. However, filmed owls appear to move their eyes without moving the head, so that's one question answered; I'd swear I've seen filmed barn owls hovering at nooks and crannies, but not reversing; and I'd extend what is observable in ordinary small birds to expect rear vision to be included in their normal viewing behaviour... Someone must have studied all this - anybody sighted an avian vision authority ? :-) ___ MultiMail/Win32 v0.47 --- Maximus/2 3.01* Origin: === Maxie BBS.
