-> bite your niece, he decided to make YOU get away from HER. This is th -> first signs of a real dominance attempt. Don't let him get away with Oh, no problem there...he doesn't get away with much around here. I definately am in control. When I get really stern with him for something serious as trying to bite, he takes what looks like to me a submissive posture. As soon as I am stern and reprimand him, he immediately bows his head and grabs his chin and doesn't move. Whether it is a submissive posture or a simple "I'm sorry", there is no denying that I am in control. And btw, his aggressiveness that I was explaining is not as bad today as it was a couple of weeks ago. He is very excitable when he is first let out of his cage...so he gets alone time on his perch at this time with me not even making eye contact with him. He tries to destroy everything hanging on his perch, but calms down in about 5 or 10 min. If he doesn't calm down within that time period, I will immediately let him take his bath at this point, rather than later on. This always calms him down. This excitability is new (last two weeks) he has never acted like this before. I am attributing it to this "sexual madness"..... One of the other questions that I had is this...I take Phoenix out in my backyard with me. (in his cage) Naturally he is given fruits and treats etc. during the time we are out. I've noticed on more than one occassion Phoenix doing battle with a yellow-jacket. A couple of times he almost caught one by biting at it as it flew by him. What would happen if he caught one in his mouth or if one stung him? (other than say "ouch"...I figured I'd throw that in before I received some wise-guy answers ) I've never heard anyone talking about this or read anything about insect bites and how it affects them. I hope you don't think I'm off the wall...I was just wondering if its something that I should be concerned about. Linda O' --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 KJ>Burst blood vessel? What caused that, do they know? Genetic, I suppose. Sometimes a part of the vessel balloons out and when the pressure gets high enough or the vessel wall weak enough, it blows. He took the baby up for a neocropsy the next day. I, of course, was worried sick that whatever killed the baby might be contagious. If it had to happen, I'm glad it wasn't disease. --- þ WinQwk 2.0 a#0 þ Unregistered Evaluation Copy --- FLAME v1.1 ---------------* Origin: The Electronic Rainforest (1:101/120.0) * Origin: Bird Info Network (303-423-9775) (1:104/234) |
