Tim.... I've been using disticntive ring with a Brother thermal FAX machine
(Model 620) for about 2 years or so.  The fax has disticntive ring
detection built-in.  Works well for me. Can't say anything about someone
else's widgetry though.
What's your purpose for the outboard switch?
