subject: Law Or Grace?

The August edition of "Consider Islam" claims that the Quran is
"the last and final revelation from God to mankind", and that
Moslems fully support the "Noahide Laws" because they do not
conflict with the Shariah - Islamic Legal System. It notes
that the USA was founded on the "Seven Universal Laws of Noah";
the "bedrock of society". (This is derived from various US Congress &
Presidential pronouncements over the years honouring the Lubavitcher
Rebbe, Menachem Schneerson, on "Education and Sharing Day").

It seems increasingly likely that "liberated" Iraq will have a
government based on Shariah Law (and consistent with Noahide Law?).

Those pushing Shariah Law, or Noahide Law, or "Universal Law" would
do well to check out the implications - a gentile is lesser than a
Jew when it comes to punishments under Noahide Laws - decapitation
being the favored form of punishment.

Shariah Law & Noahide Law are also incompatible with salvation by
grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and are both on a collision
course, and will be destroyed in a series of battles, culminating
in "Armageddon" when the nations gather against Israel with a view
to destroying it.

   Morals in Islam?

I chose to be Muslim; it was entirely my own choice. Have I shoved
my upbringing into the waste basket and foolishly chosen a faith that
has nothing positive to offer? Of course not!!! I have found Islam to
be a faith of justice, dignity and strong morals. Unfortunately a
small minority of people still have a warped view of Islam, one of
heathens, hatred and evil. I will endeavour to dispel this myth.

Let's firstly look at the following words to better understand what
they actually mean. These are the definitions according to
www.dictionary.com

Islam: A monotheistic religion
characterized by the acceptance of the doctrine of submission to God
and to Muhammad as the chief and last prophet of God

Heathen: 1. One who adheres to the religion of a
people or nation that does not acknowledge the God of Judaism,
Christianity, or Islam.

2. One who is regarded as irreligious, uncivilized, or unenlightened.

Evil: Morally bad or wrong

Hatred: The emotion of hate; a feeling of
dislike so strong that it demands action

It is most important to note that there are people from every faith
that are morally corrupt, Islam included, but we should never taint
the whole community of believers because of the actions of a few from
amongst them.

Islam didn't start with Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him); Islam
has been here since the beginning, with Prophet Adam (pbuh)

From the beginning God has commanded us to submit to him by following
his instructions with upmost obedience.

You may have heard that Islam along with Christianity and Judaism are
classified as the revealed religions. This is because we believe in
Prophethood. We (Jews, Christians and Muslims) all believe that the
Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them all) were individuals who
received revelation from God and conveyed it to the people.

According to Judaism, Prophet Noah (pbuh) was commanded to convey
seven laws to humanity. These are known as The Noahide Laws. These
laws are the backbone of western society. Muslims fully support these
laws as they do not contradict with the Shariah, the Islamic Legal
System. Shariah is an Arabic word meaning path to be followed.

Then We put thee on the (right) Way of Religion: so follow thou that
(Way), and follow not the desires of those who know not. (Qur'an:
Chapter 45 Verse 18)

United States of America was founded upon the Seven Universal Laws of
Noah, and that these Laws have been the bedrock of society from the
dawn of civilization. They also acknowledged that the Seven Laws of
Noah are the foundation upon which civilization stands and that recent
weakening of these principles threaten the fabric of civilized
society. www.auburn.edu/~allenkc/7laws

And We verily sent Noah unto his folk, and he said: O my people! Serve
Allah. Ye have no other God save Him. Will ye not ward off (evil)?
(Qur'an: Chapter 23 Verse 23)

Noachide Halakha according to the Rambam's

Hilchos Melachim, chapter 9.

Avodah Zarah - Idolatry - [...]

A gentile who worships false gods is liable to the death penalty,
provided he worships them in the regular form in which that particular
deity is usually worshiped. A gentile is executed for every type of
foreign worship which a Jewish court would consider worthy of capital
punishment. However, a gentile is not executed for a type of foreign
worship which a Jewish court would not deem worthy of capital
punishment. Nevertheless, even though a gentile will not be executed
for these forms of worship, he is forbidden to engage in all of them.
They are not allow them to erect a monument, or to plant an asherah,
or to make images and the like, even though they are only for the sake
of beauty.

Birchat HaShem - Blasphemy - [...]

A gentile who curses God's Name, whether he uses God's unique Name or
one of His other names, in any language, is liable to the death
penalty. Blasphemy with one of the attributes of God's name is an
action which, if committed by an Israelite, would not be regarded as
criminal (Sanhedrin 56b).

Dinim - Justice - [...]

The Noachidmu are required to establish courts of justice in every city
and province; and these courts are to judge the people with regard to
the six laws and to warn them against the transgression of any of them
(Rambam, Hilchos Melakim 9:14, 10:11; comp. Nachmanides on Gen. 34:13,
where the opinion is expressed that these courts should judge also
cases other than those coming under the head of the six laws, as, for
example, larceny, assault and battery, etc.). A gentile who
transgresses one of these Seven Mitzvot shall be executed by
decapitation. A gentile is executed on the basis of the testimony of
one witness and the verdict of a single judge. No prior warning is
required. Relatives may serve as witnesses. However, a woman may not
serve as a witness or a judge for them.

Shefichat Damim - Murder - [...]

A gentile who slays a human being, even a fetus in its mother's womb,
must be executed in retribution for its death. Similarly, if he slew a
person who would have otherwise died in the near future or killed a
person whose life is despaired of, or tied up and placed someone
before a lion , or starved a person to death, he should be executed ,
for he has committed murder in one manner or other. Similarly, a
pursuer should be executed if he kills the person he is chasing when
he could have saved the latter's potential victim by maiming one of
the attacker's limbs. Under the same circumstances an Israelite would
not be executed. (Sanhedrin 57b; Rambam, Hilchos Melakim 9:4; comp.
Kesef Mishneh, ad loc.).

Gilui Arayot - Illicit Sexual Relations - [...]

There are six illicit sexual relations forbidden to a gentile:

   1.

      his mother;
   2.

      his father's wife, even after the father's death;
   3.

      a married woman, whether married to a Jew or to a non-Jew;
   4.

      his maternal sister;
   5.

      a male (homosexuality);
   6.

      an animal (bestiality);

These prohibitions are derived from the verse: -

Genesis 2:24: "Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother
and be, united with his wife and they shall become one flesh."

[... ...]

Gezel - Theft - [...]

A gentile is punished with decapitation for all kinds of robbery,
whether he stole from another gentile or from a Jew, even though the
article stolen is worth less than a perutah (the smallest Israeli
coin, for less than which no case can be instituted against an
Israelite). Thus, if one gentile stole an object worth less than a
perutah and another gentile stole it from him, they are both executed
because of it. This applies to one who forcibly robs an individual or
steals money, a kidnaper, an employer who withholds his worker's wages
and the like, even a worker who eats from his employer's produce when
he is not working. In all such cases, he is liable and is considered a
thief. In regard to Jews, the law is different.

Ever Min HaChai - Limb of a Living Creature - [...]

A gentile is executed for violating the prohibition against eating a
limb or flesh from a living creature, even though the quantity
consumed be less than the size of an olive (the minimum portion for
the eating of which an Israelite may be punished). A gentile is
permitted blood from a living creature. The prohibition applies to a
limb or flesh that is separated from either a domesticated animal or a
beast. A gentile is not executed for eating a limb taken from a living
bird. Though one slaughters an animal, even if one severs the two
signs that distinguish it as having been slaughtered in a kosher
manner, as long as the animal moves convulsively, the limbs and meat
which are separated from it are forbidden to a gentile because of the
prohibition against a limb from a living creature. All prohibitions
that apply to a Jew regarding a limb from a living creature also apply
to gentiles. Furthermore, there are instances where a gentile would be
held liable and a Jew will not, for a gentile is liable for a limb or
flesh from a living creature whether from a domesticated animal or a
beast, whether from a kosher or non-kosher species. Similarly, a
gentile is held liable for the prohibition of a limb from a living
creature, for a limb or flesh which is separated from an animal that
is moving convulsively even though a Jew has already severed the two
signs.

SALVATION BY WORKS, A CRIMINAL DOCTRINE

by Charles H. Spurgeon

NO. 1534
DELIVERED ON LORD'S-DAY MORNING, APRIL 18TH, 1880,
AT THE METROPOLITAN TABERNACLE, NEWINGTON.

"I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the
law, then Christ is dead in vain."-Galatians 2:21.

THE idea of salvation by the merit of our own works is exceedingly
insinuating. It matters not how often it is refuted, it asserts itself
again and again; and when it gains the least foothold it soon makes
great advances.

Hence Paul, who was determined to show it no quarter, opposed
everything which bore its likeness. He was determined not to permit
the thin end of the wedge to be introduced into the church, for well
he knew that willing hands would soon be driving it home hence when
Peter sided with the Judaizing party, and seemed to favor those who
demanded that the Gentiles should be circumcised, our brave apostle
withstood him to the face. He fought always for salvation by grace
through faith, and contended strenuously against all thought of
righteousness by obedience to the precepts of the ceremonial or the
moral law. No one could be more explicit than he upon the doctrine
that we are not justified or saved by works in any degree, but solely
by the grace of God. His trumpet gave forth no uncertain sound, but
gave forth the clear note.

By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is
the gift of God. Grace meant grace with him, and he could not endure
any tampering with the matter, or any frittering away of its meaning.

So fascinating is the doctrine of legal righteousness that the only
way to deal with it is Paul's way. Stamp it out. Cry war to the knife
against it.Never yield to it; but remember the apostle's firmness, and
how stoutly he held his ground: "To whom," saith he, "we gave place by
subjection, no, not for an hour."
