Just a quick note that ftime() isn't ISO C.  Most compilers support it
though.  Oh, and...

random() isn't ISO C either, and is in fact prototyped differently by
Borland and DJGPP.  The following macro is compabile with Borland's though,
and rand() and RAND_MAX are ISO C.

#define random(num) (int) (((long) rand() * (num)) / RAND_MAX)

(and I bet you thought the code you posted was okay! :-)
